The Dual Enrollment Program is a state funded program that allows high school students to earn both high school and college credits through their participation in the Dual Credit Enrollment for Eligible High Schools at Eligible Postsecondary Institutions. The program is designed to provide challenging opportunities while allowing students to get an early start on college. Students in the Dual Enrollment Program earn postsecondary credit hours while simultaneously meeting their high school graduation requirements. Students may enroll in college courses full-time or part-time and may take courses during or after school (when offered).
At Paine College, participating students must be 11th or 12th grade students at an Eligible High School. A student must be admitted to the college through the College Admission process and will be classified as a Dual Credit Enrolled student by an Eligible High School. Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress to remain in the program.
The maximum academic credits a student may enroll in per semester is 15 credit hours and cannot exceed 62 credit hours at a teaching site.
The DUAL ENROLLMENT Program requires a student to have an account and profile. The student must create a GAfutures account (or have previously created an account to enroll in classes). The student must go to www.GAcollege411.org and complete the required online documents prior to completing the DUAL ENROLLMENT Program Application. The account and profile are required so that the High School Counselor can submit the courses to be taken at the college. Students must apply/update profile for each term of DUAL ENROLLMENT in order to qualify for the classes and the state financial aid program. Requested signatures are required. High School counselors can assist students with this requirement.
With the completion of the Gacollege411requirements, the student must complete an Admissions Application to Paine College and meet the admission requirements. The minimum Dual Enrollment GPA requirement is 2.5. In addition, the student must complete a Paine College Dual Enrollment Application and the state required Participation Agreement.
The DUAL ENROLLMENT Paine College application and the Participation Agreement must have the signature approval of the parent/guardian.
The High School Counselor/Coordinator must complete the DUAL ENROLLMENT high school portion, in STARS, and assign the students to courses for the current term. Select only those courses which are offered by Paine College for the current term. Once students are in STARS, the Counselor/Coordinator must submit the Paine College Admissions Application, Paine College DUAL ENROLLMENT Application (with all required signatures), the Participation Agreement (with all required signatures),and the most recent transcript for the applicant. Please submit the complete package for each student to the DUAL ENROLLMENT Coordinator at the college.
Upon receipt of the complete enrollment package for each prospective DUAL ENROLLEMENT student, the Office of Admissions and Academic Affairs will review the documents and the Office of Academic Affairs will notify the high school counselor of the student's acceptance.
